Guy Standing: How Lockdowns Make a case For Basic Income
Economist Guy Standing joined Melbourne (Naarm) Radical Left Bookshop, The New International Book Shop (nibs.org.au) to discuss how the current COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns make a case for Basic Income. Guy discussed the Precariat class, rentier capitalism, ecology, his groundwork research in over 25 countries and more. Guy also delved into various aspects of his books. Through this diverse yet intricate thesis, Guy Standing articulated how lockdowns have made the case for Basic Income. Audience members from Australia and New Zealander had various questions for Guy including the critiques of Basic Income and if a Precariat revolt would occur.
